The second “Glass Science in Art and Conservation” congress is an international meeting that tries to involve the chemical, physical and biological sciences with art, archaeology and history of glass artefacts. The scope of the congress includes all aspects of the provenance, source, technology and manufacture of glass.
GLASSAC congress will provide an opportunity to discuss practical problems of intervention facing conservators and it will examine significant developments in the science of glass that can show artists and the conservation community innovative possibilities.
The Congress will be held at the Aula Magna of the University historic Building, La Nau (C/ Universitat, 2), on the Valencia city center.
The old historic General Study building at Universitat Street in València was refurbished in 1999 on the occasion of the Vth centennial of Universitat de València.
The origin of these premises is to be found in the houses bought by the City Juries in 1493 in order to set up the General Study, founded in 1499. At present, this building is the seat of the Historic Library, although with totally renewed infrastructures for studying and researching.
